As DNA is located within cells nucleus, a lysis solution is added to each sample. This solution will destroy every cellular components but DNA which will be collectable after the settling of the sample. As it is less thick/dense, the DNA will form the supernatant and will be collected. This method is really easy to set up and is used on a daily basis by scientists who need to collect DNA. Moreover, this kind of experiment allows to collect all the DNA contained in cells, which will be stocked until further notice.
